We're "down under"
I'm sorry we haven't updated this webpage…no excuses. To say we've been busy is an understatement. BUT…we finally got all our bags packed and on the plane by noon Tuesday, May 15th, Billings time. We arrived in Sydney at about 4:15 pm on Thursday, May 17th. Oh yes, it was a marathon trip. If you want to hear some of the details…read on…
Billings to Denver and then to San Franciso was uneventful and very smooth. The flight from San Francisco to Sydney was longer than planned. The fact that we left about an hour later than posted might have been a clue to what was ahead. Sydney had a very dense fog, so…though we were scheduled to land at 6:40 am, after circling a couple of times, we were diverted to Melbourne. We sat on the tarmack for over an hour waiting for a parking space. Thank goodness we were able to get off the plane for three hours…but after reboarding and making a first attempt to leave, we waited a bit longer while the starter for engine one was replaced! The good news was that we finally arrived safely AND because we were so late, the people at immigration and customs worked quickly and were very kind! The bad news was that we left the airport right at rush hour in Sydney. We had an upclose and personal look at traffic–these Aussies drive fast and furiously AND on the wrong side of the road! Bernard had his first experience of the trip sitting in what should be the “driver's seat” with absolutely NO control. Craig didn't seem to let it bother him, though.
Claire is feeling good and Isaac is ready to come at any time! We're getting all the last minute “things” prepared…We'll try to post pictures from the baby shower AND we'll let you know when Isaac has his “coming out” party! Keep Claire and Isaac in your prayers for a safe delivery! Blessings to you all…
