The bears…
Harold, our next door neighbor, had one very large maple tree in his front yard. Every fall he would say he was going to “chop down that tree!”. Well, this year he finally did it. First, he tried tieing ropes to a branch and then attaching the ropes to his truck…well, only one branch went down that way and fortunately, no one got hurt (including the truck). He cut a few branches from his roof–again, fortunately, no one got hurt. Finally, he hired some folks to do the dastardly deed. Well, after the branches and some of the trunk were cut down, the very large stump remained to be reckoned with! When a gentleman recommended a chainsaw artist, Harold went with a new (and better) idea. Faye Braaten (www.chainsawmama.com) arrived on Friday, November 28, and by that afternoon a work of art was sitting in Harold's front yard. Here's one picture, but if you click on the link, it'll take you to a photo album. Thanks, Faye, for a job well done.
We give THANKS…
What a wonderful opportunity is provided us every year…to give THANKS! Not that we shouldn't do it EVERY day, but it is nice to have a special day set aside. This year we celebrated twice…once with our dear neighbors and friends and then again with new and old friends. Both times we had good food, good fellowship and some very nice wine! This collage will give you a “taste” of our celebrations…if you click on the link, it'll take you to a photo album with a few more pictures.
Hunting Update…
Well, there's some good news and some bad news!!!
Okay…the GOOD NEWS first: We're having Chamber-of-Commerce weather PLUS wonderful, badly needed moisture! The trees have lost most of their leaves so the colors have changed. There are piles of them everywhere adding shades of brown to the spruce and pines that are happily absorbing all the moisture in the air! Yes indeed, it's really beautiful.
Now for the BAD NEWS: It's terrible weather for the hunters. The guys came in on Friday so they could pick up Tommy B's brother, Bobby. At that time, they were painfully aware of the good moisture Montana has received. That's NOT good with the “gumbo” type soil in the area they wanted to hunt. So…on Saturday, they managed to hunt about thirty minutes away from the house with no luck! On the bright side, they were able to get to Church that evening. Well, after an unsuccessful attempt to get to their preferred camping area on Sunday, they've studied their options and moved to another place. I'll keep you updated.
See how seriously they take the decision. (They were considering using a dart on the map…)
So…do you recognize THIS guy? If he puts on a little weight, I think he could get a job for the holidays!
How about this group!!! Keep your fingers crossed that EVERYTHING goes well for them this time!
Welcome to the family of God
Sunday, November 2, 2008, was a very special day at St. Jerome's Church, Waco, TX. With family and friends as witnesses, Dave and Laura as godparents, Karen and Jerome brought Kolbe Augustine to the Church where he was baptized and welcomed into the family of God. Here's a picture of the precious baby, Kolbe.
Maw-Maw was among the people celebrating thanks to Rod who brought her and the three Bell girls. (Thank you, Rod…we appreciate you sooooo much!) If you would like to see MORE pictures, “click” on the picture of Maw-Maw
